We had never heard of Neimann-Pick Disease until we were honored to have the opportunity to meet Riley. In the 6 years she was here, she touched many lives, including the hearts of the American Cruisers #45 on December 1st 2007, We took this day to have a Poker Run for Riley and NPD, we have since made this an annual event. From this year on it will be the last Saturday of July in memory of Riley with all proceeds going to NNPD for recearch in Riley's name.

Riley had type C , It is a disease that strikes the children through accumulation of excess fats in the cells of the liver, spleen and brain. When the brain cell function is blocked the child looses the ability to walk, talk and function as a child should, and eventually takes the life of the child. Today there is no cure for NPD but through research there is hope to someday be a cure for the children and their families.
